21st March , Singapore -
The Singapore Fashion Festival is renowned for being one of
Asia-Pacific’s most exciting fashion events for international
and local designers, retailers and the public at large. This
year’s Festival, presented by MasterCard and made possible by
the Singapore Tourism Board, will take this excitement to
another level with the celebration of Asian beauty.
Asian beauty is being celebrated worldwide and some of the most
influential brand campaigns are featuring a culturally diverse
mix of Asia’s beauties as their hallmark ambassadors. The
Singapore Fashion Festival 2007 is committed to bringing to
festival-goers some of the most elegant and professional top
international Asian models the world has ever seen, hand-picked
from around the region. Ai Tominaga is one of the word’s leading
supermodels. She has appeared on the runway for some of the
world’s leading designers including John Galliano, Vivienne Tam,
Anna Sui, Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld, Gucci, Michael Kors,
Ralph Lauren, Dolce and Gabbana, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen,
Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino. With her tall feminine form,
she has in a few short years reached the modelling elite.
An editorial favourite, Ai has appeared in many leading
international fashion magazines including Vogue (American,
French, British, Japanese, Russian and German), Harper’s BAZAAR
, iD and been photographed by influential fashion leaders such
as Anne Leibovitz, Nick Knight, Steven Meisel, Ellen von Unwerth,
Mert and Marcus and Peter Lindbergh. She has featured in
campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Banana Republic and
was also in the 2004 Pirelli Calendar.
Anne Watanabe is yet another confirmed internationally in-demand
model to grace the catwalk at this year’s Festival, and will
walk the closing show - Matthew Williamson. One of Japan’s
rising stars in the fashion world, Anne is the daughter of
Japan’s most successful actor of recent times, Ken Watanabe.
Born in Tokyo and at just 22 years of age, Anne already boasts
an impressive portfolio. Anne was the Fashion Editors Choice (FEC)
model of the year in 2006 and has appeared in campaigns for Anna
Sui. She has graced the catwalks for Marc Jacobs, Tommy
Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton, Viktor & Rolf and Karl Lagerfeld to
name just a few. At the recent Fall/Winter Collection showcase
in Milan, Anne closed the Aigner show, which is one of the
exciting participating brands for the Singapore Fashion Festival
2007.
With an impressive pedigree behind them both, Ai Tominaga and
Anne Watanabe are set to become the hallmark ambassadors for
Singapore Fashion Festival 2007.
The Singapore Fashion Festival 2007 is presented by MasterCard
and is made possible by the Singapore Tourism Board. The
Singapore Fashion Festival is one of the many Uniquely Singapore
events by the Singapore Tourism Board. It is the first regional
consumer-focused fashion event where Autumn/Winter collections
are previewed and Spring/Summer collections are made directly
available from the catwalk to consumers. Since its inception in
2001, the Singapore Fashion Festival has become one of Asia’s
key fashion events.
