22nd October 2010, Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia International Fashion Alliance (m-ifa)
has been on searching for pool of fresh young talents to unearthing the next
big designer and model with the Who’s Next – Designer and Model Search
Contest. International designers Zang Toi, Jimmy Choo, Bernard Chandran and
supermodels like Amber Chia and Ling Tan are nation pride and pioneer’s of
Malaysia’s fashion industry.
"The contests will not only help propagate the local industry with the next
best crop of talents but also focus on bestowing the contestants with
real-life skills that will help them in fashion business." said CEO of m-ifa,
Syeba Yip in m-ifa portal (www.mifa.com.my).
“We’re looking for designers who are creative, business-savvy, marketing
oriented, commercially viable and adaptable to today’s fast-changing trends,”
as for the models, she says, “We’d be focusing on the real-life aspects of the
modelling business; the practicalities, groundwork, industry demands and job
expectations so that they’ll be well-prepared to cope with the rigours of
their profession. " added Syeba in m-ifa portal.
The fresh and young designers; Alan Ooi, Chan Siew Le, Chow Yao Xian, Hayden
Koh, Hyacinthe Kaur, Looi Teng, Michelle Shia, Olivia Koo, Silas Liew and
Willian Sim are short listed for competition. They would gain invaluable
experience and guidance from industry experts such as Dato’ Bernard Chandran.
The Winner of Who’s Next Designer Search will receive assistance for the
production of 22 outfits for S/S 2011 collection, RM30,000 cash from Maxis,
RM70,000 worth of support inclusive of textiles for the production of S/S 2011
collection, business coaching, guidance by Sophie Van de Venne, business
set-up & support participation in Who's Next in Paris and starting-up an
online store.
Maxis Most Promising Designer's entire journey within that one year will be
documented on video and will be showcased at M-IFW 2011 as a special
appearance. Winner will have the rare opportunity to design for Enrich
Malaysia Airlines.
The Winner of Who’s Next Model Search will walk away with RM30,000 contract
for 1 year from AndrewsModels, RM50,000 contract for 1 year from m-ifa,
RM20,000 contract from the Farah Khan fashion label as their face for 1 year,
Mary Chia slimming sessions, Mary Chia facial treatments, Catwalk training,
Dietician consultancy, Merchandise from Tiffany & Co. , RM5,000 worth of
merchandise from Roxy, RM5,000 worth of services from myDentist and RM2,000
worth of merchandise from Morgan de Toi.
The Who’s Next Designer Search and the Who’s Next Model Search will be host by
the stunning Deborah Henry and actress, model and producer powerhouse, Kavita
Sidhu. The tech-savvy competitions is aired via online TV on the newly
revamped m-ifa portal at
www.mifa.com.my.
