FASHION GATEWAY
enters it's 19th year celebration in conjuction with 1 Utama 's
Fashion On 1 - "Fashion Takes Flight" which will be held on 30th
April 2008. FASHION GATEWAY is presented by Maybank2u.com and
supported by Textile & Fashion Federation (Singapore) TaFf , Shu
Uemura, Miko hair studio and academy, Belvedere Vodka, Zouk KL
and Sony Style.
FASHION GATEWAY looks to provide the opportunity to showcase
individual passion & creativity, business opportunities and as a
stepping stone for brighter future & career path. One of the
objectives to educate and elevate the current standards within
the industry. FASHION GATEWAY organized by Malaysian Official
Designers Association (MODA) creates opportunity for young,
enthusiastic and creative individuals to communicate the
importance of Fashion to the future of Malaysia's thriving
fashion industry. Said Gillian Hung, President of Malaysian
Official Designers Association (MODA) whereby FASHION GATEWAY is
designer's channel aspirations to drive togetherness,
communication and interaction between fashion and beauty
professionals.
FASHION GATEWAY consists of the; Malaysia Young Designers'
Competition (MYDC) , Malaysia Young Models Competition (MYMC)
and 38 Designers collections in MODA Unity Fashion Showcase.
The Malaysian Young Designers' Competition (MYDC) is to discover
young Malaysian designers with talents creativity, contemporary
designs, Ready to Wear (RTW) and encourage careers in Malaysia.
The winners will represent Malaysia in the Asian Young Fashion
Designers' Contest (AYFDC) at Singapore. For past notable
participants of this competition include Gillian Hung, Melinda
Looi, Khoon Hooi, Jonathan Cheng, Nazleen Noor, Jasmi Rejab and
Yee Kar Juen, 2nd runner-up of AFYDC 2007 which was held at Singapore.
Malaysia Young Model Competition (MYMC) is searching for tall
young Malaysians with good posture who dream of being a catwalk
model. This competition intends to provide a platform for
aspiring local models to compete and become recognized. It will
also give opportunities to those who want to experience a chance
of a lifetime to work with established and up coming designers.
The winners of both competition will stand a chance to win cash
and product vouchers sponsored by Maybank2u.com, Shu Uemura &
Sony Style. This competition, will award the winners the
opportunity of a lifetime and a chance to be Malaysia's Next Top
Designer & Model.
MODA's "UNITY" Fashion Showcase will showcase, educate, inform
and promote Malaysian designers and brands locally and globally.
An annual event, "UNITY" is designed to support and encourage
professional development within Kuala Lumpur's Fashion
Community. "UNITY" will be an opportunity for the "Fashion
Conscious Public" to view the extensive growth of Malaysian
Designers and Malaysian Brands. Among the prominent designers
and label names to be participating in the showcase are Amir
Luqman, Beatrice Looi, Bill Keith, Bon Zainal, Daniel Cho,
Daniel Chong, Dominique Chan, Doreen Tan, Eve, Jonathan Cheng,
