STYLO KL Fashion Festival was launched by SPB Raja Permaisuri
Agong Malaysia at a unique fashion concert featuring legendary
Motown group, the former ladies of The Supremes made up of two
of the group’s ORIGINAL members Lynda Laurence and Scherrie
Payne and third member soul singer, Freddi Poole.
STYLO KL Fashion Festival will be held at the Pavilion Kuala
Lumpur from the 15 to the 22 of March 2008 as the start up to
the March 2008 F1 GrandPrix in Sepang. “It is a week-long
festival where fashion is merely the excuse for people to
dress up, come out, network and be entertained by a
3-dimensional fashion presentation. All this against the
backdrop of the exciting F1 race in Sepang and the glamour &
charm that comes with it”, said Nancy Yeoh, the President of
STYLO International
Present at the event was the Chairman of STYLO International,
Dato’ Jimmy Choo; Nancy Yeoh; Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir and
Dr. Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman, President of The Malaysian
Aids Foundation. Also present were senior members of royal
families, corporate bigwigs and the who’s who of the fashion
and retail industry.
“STYLO KL Fashion Festival had to be launched in an
interesting manner and the launch is delighted to witness
performance by former ladies of The Supremes. Long before
fashion stylists commandeered the red carpet, The Supremes
ignited the relevance of the fashion industry in the
entertainment world. The Supremes stitched their own dresses
and matched their own accessories.”, added Nancy Yeoh.
Co-presented by Corum & Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and supported
by the Hilton KL, Coca-Cola and Carlsberg, the ‘The Dreamgirls’
Party featured as their opening act for the former ladies of
The Supremes a unique presentation by 18 of Malaysia’s top
fashion designers & an interesting shoe presentation by Lewre
Couture.
The fashion presentation also showcased 19 designers’
interpretation of their “Dreamgirl” in matching Corum watches,
beautifully-coiffured and made up by Giorgio Armani Cosmetics
& Peek-A-Boo Salon for Loreal Professionnel to the nostalgic
accompaniment of classic Motown hits. The featured Malaysian
designers were Dato’ Tom Abang Saufi, Rizalman, Carven Ong,
Alvin Tang, Khoon Hooi, Edmund Ser, Melinda Looi, Jendela
Batik, Michael Ong, Beatrice Looi, Eric Choong, Jonathan
Cheng, Lester Wong, Melvin Lam, Richard Tsen, Syaiful Baharim,
Venie Tee, Villiam Ooi and Lewre Couture.
Also featured on the spectacular stage were 2
