wanderlust reaches the shores of Brazil, embracing Beach
culture, Hispanic influences and Mother Nature.
A natural palette dominates - WHITE, INK, WHEAT & EARTH are key
colors, interspersed with JUNGLE, POPPY & PLUM, with SALSA, YOLK
& LAGOON as highlights.
Key print - an all over botanical print. Produced in a relaxed
tunic & flowy sundress for ladies and a long sleeve shirt for
men, this print represents the essence of Spring's rainforest
theme & neutral colour story. Fern motifs appear repeatedly
within the collection in different interpretations - block
prints, applique work, embroideries & sheer knit work. For men,
there is a series of flora & fauna theme washed tees. Moving
into Summer, the organic element is executed into stylized,
colourful bloom prints for a celebratory "samba" feel. This
bolder mood is also reflected in multi-colour stripes, postcard
prints and eclectic patchwork.
Silhouettes - this is a season of simple shapes with utilitarian
& organic details. Flowy sundresses, washed linen jackets &
shorts, convertible tube dresses/skirts, sheer knit layering,
jersey knit wraps and sexy halters for ladies. A new silhouette
introduced is the baby doll tunic/dress to be wom over a pair of
crop linen pants, or alone with tanned bare legs. Island Men
basics are refreshed with new cuts such as relaxed & slim fits
and longer back hems. New items are cotton/linen textured
pullovers, pyjama stripe pants and patchwork bermudas.
In Details - beadings & embroideries are nature-inspired with
wooden natural beads of all sizes, shells, flora/fauna
embroidery & cutout motifs, hand braiding/twisting & laser
cutwork. Men shirts feature contrast printed yokes & cuffs,
colourful topstitching & etched wooden buttons.
The must-have caftan this season is a limited-edition fern print
silk 'muu muu' with beaded embroidery available in 2 lengths in
peony, copper & mangrove.
Accessories - repeating the flora/fauna theme, jewellery is
infused with basket weave charms, wooden carvings, leather trims
& shells. Carved wooden hair accessories along with laced up
leather sandals complement the utilitarian, flowy silhouette of
the season. Other key accessories are oversized canvas bags with
solid leather trims & multi stripes, metallic totes with leather
handles, organic-inspired soft tweed handheld bags & macrame
belts.
In line with the Brazilian story is the Island Beach collection
with an Ipanema party mood - body conscious knits, printed tees
in electric colour scheme, bustier sundresses, bi-colour pareos,
convertible swimsuits & metallic bikini sets.
Also, look out for Island Shop's new packaging and labels in
lime, orange & brown with the updated Island Shop logo and its
trademark "congkak".
