Harry Halim, is already making waves in the industry. He
recently clinched the top prize at Asian Young Fashion Designer
Contest 2006 and 1st runner up at Singapore Fashion Designer
Contest 2006. Before that, he came in as a finalist in
Mercedes-Benz Asian Fashion Awards 2006, Singapore, and Asian
Young Fashion Designer Contest 2005.
Since young, the Singapore-based had been interested in arts &
designs. Before stepping into Fashion Designing, he studied
graphic design and photography in Limkokwing University of
creative and technology in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Halfway
through, he made the switch to study Fashion Design with
Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts. While in school, he applied his
classroom knowledge at Divine Couture Bridals, where he was an
assistant designer. He was one of the top students with best
graduate’s collections. Upon completion of his studies, he
joined Celia Loe as a designer. Currently Harry works for
Australian-US brand Aussino, and apply his design flair on SINO
label.
After the winning, he plans to launch his very own label,
harryhalim, during Singapore Fashion Festival 2007. The label,
harryhalim is concentrated on the details works, in technical
aspects and construction. Making ample use of fabrics, draping
techniques, twisting, pleating, playing around with the layers
of sheer fabrics in different textures. The design of each
garment is dynamical, undulating and flimsy but structured.
