Mr. Somchai Kawtong or Khun Kai , the owner of Kai Boutique and one of Thailand’s fashion gurus, has on many occasions created miracles for ELLE Fashion Week and is always willing to promote young designers to international arena. He is certainly the main driving force of the fashion industry in Thailand.

In ELLE Fashion Week 2007 Spring & Summer at CentralWorld, he presents not only his own summer’s collection, but also proudly introduces the work of his right-hand student: Mr. Nopparat Charapok .

And as a fashion guru of Thailand, Mr. Somchai Kawtong commented that, ‘For ELLE Magazine Thailand to hold ELLE Fashion Week twice a year in conformity with the world fashion event system is a very good news for Thai designers. It will fill in the gap of Thai fashion industry perfectly. Though we are in tropical climate, we still have to produce 2 collections per year, since we focus not only on local Thai market, but also overseas as well. We have to show our customers of our variations in both seasons. The main difference between these 2 collections is how we create the mood for each season. For example, the light fabric is suitable for tropical country, but when it comes to winter we have to create the winter color-tone by adding black or gray. We try to use darker shades of color to create winter mood. Summer, on the contrary, is easier; just put on jeans and T-shirt with cheerful color. I really want Thai people to support Thai designers to further strengthen Thai fashion industry.’
